//_Download dreamland All my tracks are part of the of the Internet Archive - a huge open library for nearly every kind of information, audio included. You can find mp3's and ogg vorbis files (need infos about ogg vorbis?) my music at the Open Audio section (or simply search the archive) ... a nice place which features free productions of many different music genres. Check it out - maybe you like the idea of open source and free economy. Let's start to organise a world without property and scarcity - all that is only useful for needed making profits. No privileges - open access to music, knowledge, experiences, software and resources! I also try to release the audio sources and .flac-files (.flac is a lossless audio compression!) of my songs and the tracks before mixdown thus everybody can use the best stuff for new projects etc.
This one is a remix of Chaoze One's "Koppstoff/Mein Bloc",
which is part of the 2004 released EP "Koppstoff". Chaoze One
tells stories about the life in his borrow - about confrontations with
the police state or racist attitudes for example. Besides that, he delivers
angry rap with political lyrics and much emotions - check it out! I released
the instrumental version under the name "Sun Under Shadows".
At the beginning, Sun Under Shadows seems to be based on a strong tension and dark atmosphere, which turns out to be fragile. Later, the crunchy drumms are escorted by a strange collage of several sound pieces from comic series or movies. Another fragile construction is the idea that this track contains a piano part - oh, except flutes belong to key instruments. Sun Under Shadows is the instrumental of the "Mein Bloc" remix i did for Chaoze One. This track is also my first step on the ASR 10 ... a really nice sampling keyboard. Special thanks to some old minidisks with tons of sound pieces that I recorded from television. Ok, at least this is a small compensation for all the time I wasted by watching tv.
No More Workis a very relaxed track. It consists of some strange samples, bass-lines and pieces of melodies, which alternate and overlap all the time. This track is also a statement against the concept work, which stands for doing senseless things and lifelong subordination. A concept that overwhelms the live of nearly all people. While the overall productivity is rising every day, trade unions and many others still demand full employment instead of creating a world where all things belong us all and nobody is forced to work. No More Workwas recorded in november 2004 after some month with more or less intense work on it. I did this track with a MPC 2000 XL - the PC was only used for mixdown. This one got started as I resampled the end of another track accidentally thus the main sound of the first part of "No More Work" was created. A nice random accident.
This is an instrumental hip hop track with a cold, futuristic feel caused by all those strange sounds, which could be imported from a science fiction movie. Actual they're products of a "random accident" ... I just play around with something: The main sound is a reversed and delayed version of a bass sample I used for another song. And thus, a new track was born. These unexpected results are an important creative moment for me. The track also includes some changes - at the end a kindof piano breaks trough the rather dark beats. But I don't know what it is. Maybe afterfuture. Maybe Afterfuture was composed in 2003. It was the last one I did on a pc before switching to sampling workstations. Maybe it marks a crossing point. I don't like most of the shit I've done with a computer - but I feel ok with this one. Even if it does not satisfy me today, it's one step of a learning process to produce creative, sample-based music ...
1972 did a nice remix of this track – thus, “Maya Afterfuture” (Neo Remix by 1972, 2005, 5:52)was created ... check it out. Very strange!
"ogg vorbis" is a lossy compression format for audio - like mp3 it cuts up frequencies that are only interesting for vampires ;-). But there are some important differences: It's a free format, which doesn't force you to pay anything - many mp3-encoders are based on stupid copyrights thus their owners can force you to pay for using their codecs (exept the lame-mp3-encoder wich is free too). In addition, ogg vorbis sounds better that mp3 even at lower bitrates. Slowly more programms and mp3-players support this new format. Check it out! Ogg Vorbis Developers page
