Saroos – Saroos (2006, Album, Alien Transistor)

It’s the debut of very go-getting musicians: Christoph Brandner, known as part of Lali Puna and Florian Zimmer, who is involved in bandprojects like Jersey or Iso 68. With Saroos, they have created a warm und groovy downbeat-realm; sounds from many different directions form a soundstructure with immense thickness and overall complexity. Despite of that, the tracks on this album seem to be composed rough and impulsively ; Saroos have the pleasing courage to use surprising breaks or wide-stretched interruptions, until the precise beats continues. Especially the opening track invokes to dance immediately. Sampled vocals are mostly used as background sound elements. The only exception is „During This Course ” with Alias (of the anticon collective) rapping over the beats. Summary: No spectacular re-invention but a nice piece of downbeat. summer.
